The Camp in its Afterlives

The Camp in its Afterlives (2018) is a multipart contemplation of the former Płaszów camp in Kraków, Poland, that city's most important Holocaust site.  Made between 2010 and 2018, the sequences join two distinct picture types.  One set of images studies the earth of the former camp in its seasons, and the other looks into what people actually do at Płaszów, the range of activities that constitute a spectrum of remembering and forgetting.  Knitted together, these picture types form a double movement into the ways that memory is simultaneously present and obscured, built and dismembered, evident and withheld.
